Acts 16:1-10

1And he came also to Derbe and to Lystra. A disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewish woman who was a believer; but his father was a Greek.
2He was well spoken of by the brethren at Lystra and Icoʹnium.
3Paul wanted Timothy to accompany him; and he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews that were in those places, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.
4As they went on their way through the cities, they delivered to them for observance the decisions which had been reached by the apostles and elders who were at Jerusalem.
5So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and they increased in numbers daily.
6And they went through the region of Phryʹgia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia.
7And when they had come opposite Myʹsia, they attempted to go into Bithynʹia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them;
8so, passing by Myʹsia, they went down to Troʹas.
9And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedoʹnia was standing beseeching him and saying, “Come over to Macedoʹnia and help us.”
10And when he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go on into Macedoʹnia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.

Responsorial Psalm

Psalms 100:1-3, 5

1Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the lands!
2Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!
3Know that the LORD is God! It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
5For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures for ever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

Gospel

John 15:18-21

18“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.
19If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
20Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also.
21But all this they will do to you on my account, because they do not know him who sent me.

Acts 4:8-12

8Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders,
9if we are being examined today concerning a good deed done to a cripple, by what means this man has been healed,
10be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by him this man is standing before you well.
11This is the stone which was rejected by you builders, but which has become the head of the corner.
12And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Responsorial Psalm

Psalms 40:2, 4, 7-11

1I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry.
3He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.
6Sacrifice and offering thou dost not desire; but thou hast given me an open ear. Burnt offering and sin offering thou hast not required.
7Then I said, “Lo, I come; in the roll of the book it is written of me;
8I delight to do thy will, O my God; thy law is within my heart.”
9I have told the glad news of deliverance in the great congregation; lo, I have not restrained my lips, as thou knowest, O LORD.
10I have not hid thy saving help within my heart, I have spoken of thy faithfulness and thy salvation; I have not concealed thy steadfast love and thy faithfulness from the great congregation.

Gospel

Luke 9:57-62

57As they were going along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.”
58And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head.”
59To another he said, “Follow me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”
60But he said to him, “Leave the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”
61Another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but let me first say farewell to those at my home.”
62Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Responsorial Psalm

Psalms 145:1-6, 21

1I will extol thee, my God and King, and bless thy name for ever and ever.
2Every day I will bless thee, and praise thy name for ever and ever.
3Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.
4One generation shall laud thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.
5On the glorious splendor of thy majesty, and on thy wondrous works, I will meditate.
6Men shall proclaim the might of thy terrible acts, and I will declare thy greatness.
21My mouth will speak the praise of the LORD, and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.

Gospel

John 14:12-17

12“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father.
13Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son;
14if you ask anything in my name, I will do it.
15“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
16And I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, to be with you for ever,
17even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him; you know him, for he dwells with you, and will be in you.
