1 Kings 8:1-7, 9-13
1Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the fathers’ houses of the people of Israel, before King Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.
2And all the men of Israel assembled to King Solomon at the feast in the month Ethʹanim, which is the seventh month.
3And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.
4And they brought up the ark of the LORD, the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the tent; the priests and the Levites brought them up.
5And King Solomon and all the congregation of Israel, who had assembled before him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing so many sheep and oxen that they could not be counted or numbered.
6Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place, in the inner sanctuary of the house, in the most holy place, underneath the wings of the cherubim.
7For the cherubim spread out their wings over the place of the ark, so that the cherubim made a covering above the ark and its poles.
9There was nothing in the ark except the two tables of stone which Moses put there at Horeb, where the LORD made a covenant with the people of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.
10And when the priests came out of the holy place, a cloud filled the house of the LORD,
11so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD.
12Then Solomon said, “The LORD has set the sun in the heavens, but has said that he would dwell in thick darkness.
13I have built thee an exalted house, a place for thee to dwell in for ever.”

Romans 8:31-39
31What then shall we say to this? If God is for us, who is against us?
32He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, will he not also give us all things with him?
33Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies;
34who is to condemn? Is it Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us?
35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36As it is written, “For thy sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
38For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
39nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Matthew 16:24-27
24Then Jesus told his disciples, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
25For whoever would save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
26For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what shall a man give in return for his life?
27For the Son of man is to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay every man for what he has done.
